Pastry Recipes Typical Middle East: Baklava
This time share recipes typical Turkish sweet pastry, baklava. Baklava is a sweet pastry made of leather stuffing pastry with nuts, and doused with syrup or honey.
Ingredients:
- 16 sheets of pastry shell
- 50 g butter, melted
- 1/5 cup nuts, chopped finely
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 cup sweet syrup / syrup vanilla / honey
- Rough chopped peanuts for garnish
How to Make:
- Preheat oven to a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius.
- Mix finely chopped nuts with powdered cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir well. Set aside.
- Prepare a baking sheet. Cut the pastry shell the size of the pan to be used. Grease a baking dish with butter. Brush the pastry shell with butter, stacks 4 in the pan. Add bean mixture in the next layer. Flatten. Repeat the process until the desired thickness or until the pastry shell exhausted.
- Cut a square, or other desired shape.
- Bake in oven for 20-30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let stand for a moment. Flush with sweet syrup / syrup vanilla / honey, and let stand until the syrup soak into the cake. Also can stores in the refrigerator.
- Garnish with a sprinkling of chopped nuts. Serve
- Tips:
- Pastry shell available in grocery stores or large supermarkets.
- Entries can be any beans to taste. Peanuts, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, etc. For a layer of mashed beans until smooth, or can also use a food processor.
- This cake are very sweet and contains butter in large quantities. Not suitable for dietary or who have problems with sugar.
